On this website some of the walking tours are described, which start from Kissamos.

For years I spent my vacations mainly on the Greek islands, Skiathos, Alonissos, Lesbos, Kalymnos, Kos and Ikaria are the islands I
visited. I’ve been working for 25 years a an ambulance driver, but since my retirement, there is more time to go to Crete. On one
of my journeys I visited the small town of Kastelli-Kissamos. Kastelli-Kissamos is a village with around 5000 inhabitants. Kastelli-
Kissamos is also named only Kissamos, its main industry is agricultural, besides it hasn’t been discovered by mass-tourism yet. The
sandy beaches Balos, Elafonisi and Falasarna, are located near Kissamos, these are counted among the most beautiful beaches on
Crete. These beautiful beaches can be easily reached from Kissamos by public transport. One can take the car (over a poor
road) to Balos beach. Upon returning by boat from Balos, the bus is already waiting to take you back to Kissamos or Chania. Ktel
is the bus company delivering the bus service on Crete, the schedule for the bus, you can find it on the page LINKS. From the bus
station in Chania you can take the bus wich is going to Kissamos, you can buy the ticket at the bus station in Chania, but also on
the bus itself. The area around Kissamos is great for long walks. Walking tours can be booked at the Strata tourist office in
Kissamos, which is opposite to the museum at the plateia Tzanakaki.
